About DirectCIH

DirectCIH was formed in 2011 by Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs) to provide expert, experienced consultation for industry, manufacturing, real estate, insurance, institutions, and attorneys.  The pooling of their expertise and resources provided by the CIHs created a service unavailable elsewhere.  The Certified Industrial Hygienists at DirectCIH have the academic knowledge, business acumen, and technical experience to meet the goals of the client for protecting worker safety and health.

What is a Certified Industrial Hygienist?

A Certified Industrial Hygienist is someone who, by becoming board certified through acquiring a BS in math, science, or engineering, gaining five years of apprenticeship, and taking multiple extensive examinations, is recognized as having the education, training, and experience to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and control occupational and environmental hazards.  Ongoing continuing education is required to maintain board certification.

Experience

William F. Garvin has over thirty five years of experience and training in environmental, health, and safety (EHS), including EHS compliance audits; EHS training; and environmental monitoring including worker, industrial, and indoor air monitoring.

 

Professional Interest

Mr. Garvin’s professional interests include optimizing environmental, health, and safety programs within budgetary and management constraints using mathematical models. He applies his MBA education (specialty in Industrial Administration) to environmental, health and safety issues.
